Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 9, 2026

HouseHeroes is a household chore-sharing app for iPhone, built by one person (Sjoerd Bozon, trading as bo3.dev). It does not collect, sell, or share your data.

This document tells you exactly what HouseHeroes does with your information, in plain language and without legalese.

Short version

What data the app stores

Everything you type into HouseHeroes — chore names, household names, member names, avatars, points, streaks, badges — is stored in two places:

Apple's iCloud is end-to-end encrypted for private database records. Neither we nor Apple can read the content of your data without your iCloud credentials.

If you invite a partner via the in-app sharing flow, the household becomes a CKShare and the records move into a shared CloudKit database between just the two of you. The same encryption applies.

Feedback

When you tap Settings → Send feedback, HouseHeroes makes one HTTPS POST to api.github.com with:

This becomes a public issue on the HouseHeroes GitHub repository: https://github.com/Sjoerd-Bo3/househeroes/issues

Anything you type in the feedback form becomes public. Don't include anything sensitive. If you have a private concern, email us at feedback@bo3.dev instead.

Screenshots uploaded to catbox.moe are public URLs. Don't attach a screenshot that contains anything private you wouldn't want public.

Notifications

HouseHeroes schedules local notifications on your device to remind you about chores. These are handled entirely by iOS — they never leave your phone. No push notification server is involved.

Data we do NOT collect

Third parties

HouseHeroes uses exactly three external services:

  1. Apple iCloud — hosts your chore data. Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  2. GitHub (only if you use the feedback form) — hosts the public issue tracker. Governed by GitHub's Privacy Statement.
  3. catbox.moe (only if you attach a screenshot to feedback) — hosts the screenshot image. Governed by catbox.moe's terms.

We do not share your data with anyone else.

Your rights

Deleting your data

You can delete all HouseHeroes data at any time:

  1. Delete the app from your iPhone (removes the local database)
  2. Turn off iCloud for HouseHeroes in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud (removes the cloud copy)
  3. If your household is shared with a partner, ask them to also delete their iCloud copy

Accessing your data

Because the data is in your own iCloud, you already have full access. Tap any chore, household, or member in the app to see everything stored about it.

Closing feedback issues

If you filed a feedback issue via the in-app form and want it removed, email feedback@bo3.dev with the issue number or URL.

Children's privacy

HouseHeroes is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe your child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, we will:

  1. Update the "Last updated" date at the top
  2. Post the change in the HouseHeroes GitHub repository's release notes
  3. If the change materially affects how your data is handled, show an in-app notice the next time you open the app
